"By teaching, we learn" - Seneca the Younger
Educator, Scholar, Leader
Educator, Scholar, Leader
I am a veteran instructional leader with over two decades of experience in both private and public schools; a cognitive scientist who specializes in designing technology-enhanced, blended, and online learning environments and supporting teachers in transforming their instruction; an improvement scientist with expertise in leading meaningful program improvement through Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles; and a writer and advocate for reforming education based on established research on how people most effectively learn.
In 2014 I was selected to be a fellow with the U.S. State Department's Teachers for the Global Classroom initiative. As part of this fellowship I engaged in a series of conferences and planning sessions to create materials for promoting global competency education and then traveled to Morocco where I taught for two weeks and challenged my own cultural competencies. As a capstone project for this fellowship, I created this website which I continue to maintain in an effort to encourage the incorporation of global competency education in local schools and to support teachers in designing instruction to foster global competency and awareness.
